Bacon Sarnies

Here is Kenta with his host brother Finn enjoying bacon sarnies. Sarnies are sandwiches. Traditional sauces of course!

Homestay

Some pictures of family life at the Ridall's with Kensei, sent to us by Pauline. Many thanks. All the host families have been delighted with their Tokai Boys. I have spoken to them all individually and the boys are being really good -  communicative, friendly and helpful. You parents back in Japan can be very proud of them!

Little Boy

One of the items in the Museum was a model of the "Little Boy" atomic bomb. We should never forget the horror of war for everybody involved. Hopefully, our students will become ambassadors for world Harmony.

The Imperial War Museum

Here we saw many items related to the First and Second World wars as well as more recent conflicts. It was very moving, particularly the section about the Holocaust and the First World War. After visiting the museum we had a picnic lunch in a Peace Garden inspired and opened by the Dalai Lama.

From the Peace Monument. Wise words. Hopefully we can make them come true.

A Fine Day Out

Yesterday (Sunday) we visited London. We met at 0830 and after a 2 hour drive arrived at the newly refurbished Imperial War Museum. We spent time there and then had a picnic in the park. The next thing was a ride on the Thames on a boat. We went under Tower Bridge, past St. Paul's and up the river to Canary Warf. Then we took the train back into the centre of London where we aw Buckingham Palace an Big Ben before returning home. We also rode on the underground. Although the time was rather short, the boys had a good day out and got an impression of the scale and importance of London now and in history. It really is an incredible city. Hopefully they will have a chance to go back there and see it at their leisure.
